Supply Chain Director Resume Example for Senior Professionals (2026)

By Max Mustermann · Updated May 2026

How to write a Supply Chain Director CV that demonstrates end-to-end supply chain transformation, not just logistics management — the distinction that separates €100k logistics managers from €250k supply chain executives.

Supply Chain Director: strategy, not logistics

The Supply Chain Director role has evolved dramatically. It is no longer about managing warehouses and transportation — it is about designing resilient, cost-optimised networks that directly impact company profitability and competitive positioning. The best Supply Chain Director CVs demonstrate this strategic perspective.

Executive recruiters filling Supply Chain Director positions report that the biggest screening criterion is whether the candidate thinks in terms of end-to-end value chain or functional silos. If your CV separates procurement, planning, manufacturing, and logistics into different sections, you are signalling a fragmented view. Supply Chain Directors must demonstrate integrated thinking.

Key insight: The three numbers that matter most on a Supply Chain Director CV: revenue or spend under management (€), inventory reduction achieved, and service level improvement. If all three are in your first 4 lines, you pass the 30-second scan.

CV mistakes Supply Chain Directors make

1. Logistics language at a strategic level

“Managed warehouse operations and transportation” is logistics manager language. “Redesigned European distribution network delivering €8.2M annual savings while improving OTIF to 97.2%” is director language.

2. No inventory metrics

Inventory management is the core financial lever of supply chain. Include inventory turns, days of inventory, excess and obsolete reduction, and working capital impact. “Reduced inventory by €22M (35%)” speaks directly to CFOs.

3. Missing S&OP/IBP experience

S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) or IBP (Integrated Business Planning) is now table stakes for director-level roles. If you have implemented or led S&OP processes, make it prominent with forecast accuracy metrics.

4. No risk management

Post-pandemic, supply chain resilience is a board-level concern. Include evidence of risk management: dual sourcing, nearshoring, safety stock optimisation, and supply chain disruption response.

5. Technology as a checkbox

“Experienced in SAP” is meaningless at this level. “Deployed TMS and WMS across 8-country network achieving 18% transportation cost reduction” shows technology enabling business results.
