1. Leading with certifications
“Experienced in ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO 14001” is expected for every quality professional. Lead with business outcomes: COPQ reduction, customer complaint improvement, cost savings. Certifications go in the skills section.
2. Audit results without business context
“Achieved ISO 9001 certification” is maintenance, not achievement. “Led IATF 16949 recertification with zero major findings, enabling €35M contract renewal with BMW” connects quality to revenue.
3. No cost of quality metrics
If you cannot quantify the financial impact of your quality programmes, you are positioning yourself as a compliance manager. Track and report COPQ, warranty costs, scrap rates, and rework costs in business terms.
